The Man & The Clock

The old lonely man, engulfed in work, lost a piece of hair from his head each day. As work stressed him, and his daughters grew older and were ready to leave the house, the old man turned more lonely and gray. He went to the local matchmaker in search of a fine lady who shall fill his time, turn his smile upside down and fill his heart with joy….

The matchmaker, a cunning woman, offered the man, a plethora of damsels in distress to choose from a small village called Squaresville in which lived Squarian women, beautiful, yet with brains the size of peas. But for the lone old man, who didn’t have a wife in so long, any woman would do. At the end of the session, the matchmaker found him what she coined to be the most beautiful Squaresvillian woman. The man asked how much, the matchmaker said that he wouldn’t have to pay this time, but pointed to a large melting clock…She asked the man to get it off her hands, her little hut was too small, and it would be perfect in his big beautiful mansion. The man, a connoisseur of fine art, gladly took the clock off the matchmaker’s hands.
